More than 50 years ago, in 1963, Judicial officer Michel Couvreur founded his own agency in Antwerp, and he was soon joined by Judicial officer Eduard Scharpé († 2012). This agency was at the heart of what is now Modero Judicial Officers Antwerp: an agency with a long history.

At the initiative of Jan De Meuter, in 2001, the name was changed to De Meuter & Corstjens Judicial Officers. In 2008, the agency of Judicial Officers Luyten & Dupont was integrated. Judicial officer Hugo Luyten had been running the agency of his father and grandfather since 1981, making it one of the oldest agencies in the country. In 2010, the current name was introduced: Modero.

Modero has played a pioneering role in the industry for years. Since Jan De Meuter took charge in 2001, the traditional agency has evolved into an innovative company that keeps pushing back the boundaries of the profession, while maintaining a focus on its corporate social responsibility.

Modero believes that judicial officers have a social role to play, with a focus on both solving and preventing payment disputes. This belief is key to Modero’s vision. Modero considers the debtor to be the customer and the creditor to be the client.

Modero guarantees a transparent and uniform method throughout the Modero Network. This network consists of several judicial officers’ agencies spread over the various districts which all use the same values and method. The central control and synchronisation of case files between these partners, combined with the local customer focus, determine the success of this uniform method. Modero embraces the local knowledge and involvement and ensures that the network’s expertise is utilised.

Modero is able to count on the expertise of twenty one certified judicial officerstwenty one junior judicial officers and more than 200 employees. Modero has offices in the cities of Antwerp, Brussels, Dendermonde, Geel, Ghent, Leuven, Mechelen and Limburg (Tongeren). In the other districts, Modero works together closely with a number of preferred colleagues, belonging to the Modero Network.
