Personal data we process
MODERO only processes personal data that you provide to us yourself.Memo is intended to explain a letter you received from Modero.The following personal data may appear in this correspondence:
- First and last name
- Address details
- Email address
- File number
- Bank account number
These personal data are sent to our server and continuously converted into text, but are not further processed to provide you with a response.
MODERO does not use social media plugins.
Special and/or sensitive personal data we process
MODERO only processes the special and/or sensitive personal data that you provide to us yourself, because they appear in the letter or email you have Memo read.The following special and/or sensitive personal data may be processed:
- National register number (RRN)
- Medical data (for example, when the letter concerns payment of a hospital invoice or ambulance transport)
These personal data are sent to our server and continuously converted into text, but are not further processed to provide you with a response.
Our application, website and/or service does not intend to collect data about website visitors under the age of 13. If you believe that we have collected personal data about a minor without such consent, please contact us via privacy@modero.be and we will delete this information.
Purpose and legal basis for processing personal data
The purpose of the Memo application is to summarize and clarify a letter or email from Modero that you have received.MODERO only processes your personal data when they are scanned and converted into text.The personal data are not further processed to provide you with a response.The legal basis we use is your explicit, informed consent. You can withdraw this consent at any time and without giving reasons. You can do this by no longer using the application or by notifying us of the withdrawal of your consent via privacy@modero.be.
Automated decision-making
MODERO does not make decisions about matters that may have (significant) consequences for individuals based on automated processing. These are decisions made by computer programs or systems, without human intervention (e.g. a MODERO employee).
Retention period
MODERO does not retain your personal data longer than is strictly necessary to achieve the purposes for which your data are collected. The personal data that were converted into text are not stored.
Sharing personal data with third parties
MODERO does not sell your data to third parties and will only provide them if necessary for the execution of our agreement with you, to comply with a legal obligation, or when necessary for our services.With organizations that process your data on our behalf, we conclude a processing agreement to ensure the same level of security and confidentiality of your data. MODERO remains responsible for these processing activities.
Cookies or similar technologies we use
MODERO does not use cookies, except for technical and functional cookies.A cookie is a small text file that is stored on your computer, tablet or smartphone during your first visit to this website. The cookies we use are necessary for the technical operation of the website and your ease of use. They ensure that the website works properly and, for example, remember your preference settings. We can also optimize our website with them. You can disable cookies by setting your internet browser so that it no longer stores cookies. You can also delete all previously stored information via your browser settings.
Access, modify or delete data
You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data. You also have the right to withdraw your consent to data processing or to object to the processing of your personal data by MODERO, and you have the right to data portability. This means that you can submit a request to us to send the personal data we have about you in a computer file to you or another organization you have named.
You can send a request for access, correction, deletion, data transfer of your personal data or request to withdraw your consent or objection to the processing of your personal data to privacy@modero.be
To ensure that the request for access was made by you, we ask you to send a copy of your identity card with the request. In this copy, please black out your photo, identity card number and national register number (RRN). This is to protect your privacy. We will respond to your request as quickly as possible, but within four weeks.
MODERO also wants to point out that you have the option to file a complaint with the national supervisory authority, the Data Protection Authority (Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels, contact@apd-gba.be). This can be done via the following link:

How we secure personal data
MODERO takes the protection of your data seriously and takes appropriate measures to prevent misuse, loss, unauthorized access, unwanted disclosure and unauthorized modification. If you believe that your data are not properly secured or there are indications of misuse, please contact privacy@modero.be.
Terms of Use – Memo Application
These terms of use (“Terms of Use”) set out the conditions under which the web and mobile application “Memo” (“Memo App”) of MODERO may be used.
MODERO NV (“MODERO”), with company number 0.474.215.974 and registered office at Mechelsesteenweg 203, 2018 Antwerp, is the administrator of this application. For questions about the Memo App or these Terms of Use, you can contact memo@modero.be.
- Applicability of these Terms of Use
1.1 Applicability
1.1.1. These Terms of Use apply to any use of (the content of) the Memo App. Use also includes downloading and installing the mobile Memo App.
1.1.2. By using the Memo App, you as a user (“User”) accept the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy. “User” refers to the natural or legal person using the Memo App.
1.1.3. Acceptance of these Terms of Use creates a legally binding agreement between the User and MODERO regarding the use of the Memo App and the services it provides. The Terms of Use apply as long as the app is used or until the User deletes the app. If the User wishes to use the app again (see also 2.2.), they must re-register and accept the Terms of Use again. This does not affect MODERO’s rights in case of previous non-compliance with the Terms of Use.
1.1.4. MODERO may amend the Terms of Use, and the User must then accept them again. The most recent version, along with the Privacy Policy, is always available at https://www.modero.be/producten-services/memo.
2. Access to the Memo App
2.1. The Memo App can be used via the web version or after downloading the mobile app from an app store (e.g. Microsoft Store, App Store or Play Store).
2.2. MODERO may immediately terminate access to the Memo App if it has not been used for a continuous period of more than 24 months or if the User has failed to install three or more consecutive updates.
2.3. Minor users are not allowed to use the Memo App.
3. Use of the Memo App
3.1. The User is responsible for a properly functioning internet connection and for the equipment and system software required to use the Memo App.
3.2. The User decides which data they enter into the Memo App.
3.3. The purpose of the Memo App is to provide a summary and explanation of an outstanding claim with Modero. The User receives the balance, bank account number and payment reference with clarification. The User is not permitted to use the Memo App for any other purpose, nor to pursue any commercial objective.
4. License
4.1. MODERO grants the User a license to use the Memo App. This license is non-exclusive and non-transferable.
4.2. MODERO always has the right to modify the Memo App, change or delete data, and terminate the license. If MODERO denies the User access to the Memo App temporarily or permanently, it will inform the User of the reason.
4.3. The User is not permitted to make the Memo App available to third parties, sell or rent it, decompile or reverse engineer it, or modify it without prior express written permission from MODERO. The User is also not allowed to remove or circumvent technical features that make the Memo App function and/or protect it.
5. Intellectual Property Rights
5.1. All intellectual property rights and similar rights of the Memo App, including but not limited to the underlying software, logos, images and texts, belong exclusively to MODERO.
5.2. The User undertakes to respect MODERO’s good name and reputation and to ensure that the use of the Memo App does not harm MODERO’s rights, reputation or name.
6. Liability and Indemnification
6.1. MODERO is not liable, on any grounds, for direct or indirect damage resulting from or related to the use of (the content of) the Memo App.
6.2. The Memo App has been developed with the utmost care. However, MODERO cannot guarantee that it will always be available and function without interruption, errors or defects. MODERO is not liable for any damage resulting from such interruptions, errors or defects.
6.3. This application is intended to provide general information, support and suggestions. Although MODERO strives for accuracy and correctness, we cannot guarantee that all answers are correct and/or complete. This application should not be considered legal advice. No rights can be derived from it.
6.4. MODERO is not responsible for any damage or issues caused by integrations with third parties.
7. Privacy Policy
MODERO handles personal data with care. To inform the User transparently and fully about the processing of their personal data in the context of using the Memo App, the following privacy policy has been drawn up:

8. Termination
8.1. The User may stop using the Memo App at any time and without giving reasons by deleting or uninstalling the Memo App from their (mobile) device.
8.2. MODERO may make the Memo App temporarily or permanently unavailable for use, without the User being able to derive any rights from this, even if it happens without prior notice.
9. Other Provisions
9.1 Severability
9.1.1. These Terms of Use shall in no way affect the rights of a consumer that are mandatory by law.
9.1.2. If one or more provisions of these Terms of Use are wholly or partially void or annulled at any time, all other provisions shall remain fully applicable. In such a case, the parties shall consult to agree on a new provision that replaces the void or annulled provision and that, as far as possible, aligns with the purpose and intent of the original provision.
9.2 Dispute Resolution
If a dispute exists or is likely to arise between the User and MODERO, the parties prefer to reach an amicable solution. Only when it becomes clear that an amicable solution is not possible will the parties initiate legal proceedings. A party that fails to pursue an amicable solution shall bear all costs, including legal fees, of the legal proceedings alone.
9.3 Applicable Law and Jurisdiction
9.3.1. These Terms of Use are governed exclusively by Belgian law.
9.3.2. In case of disputes regarding these Terms of Use for which no satisfactory solution could be reached under Article 9.2 of this agreement, the courts of the judicial district of Antwerp shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
